Download a copy of this site:

For educational or personal use you can download a mirror version of this site which can be used on your personal computer or school server. The site is available in a ZIP or SIT format which can be decompressed with Expander (shareware for both Windows and Macintosh) or similar programs. You can get Expander at www.aladdinsys.com/expander/index.html.

The downloadable version is approximately 4 Meg in size (remeber the good old days when the site fit on a floppy?) and does not include the 3D Trach Fly Through (part of the ultrasound demo), but that can be downloaded separately.

March, 2000 version w/o 3D trach flythrough movie.

Macintosh (SIT format)
Windows (ZIP format)

To use the material:

You need to have a computer that can deal with long file names (such as "umffbounce.html" or "cool_logo.jpeg." Sorry about that fact. Windows 95/98/00/NT can deal with long names, as well as any Mac. (side note - most things are in an 8.3 format so most can be used on Windows 3.1, but I can not be sure of that).

  1. Download the compressed version of the site.
  2. "unstuff" the .sit file (or unzip the .zip file)
  3. You will then have a folder called "ExplrSci"
  4. Inside that folder will be a file called start.htm
  5. Open that file with your favorite shockwave enabled web browser.

Additional Site Downloads:

To include the 3D medical movie in your personal version, download the site above, and then download the movie below. After downloading the movie, place it in the DSWMEDIA folder which is inside the ExplorSci folder.

Sample Class Worksheets/Info

I got a message from Gary Richert at Hazelwood High School who has created several worksheets to go along with several of the experiments on this site (and others). Please visit his applet page for several worksheets, or his excellent collection of links.

Frank Tuttle from Upper Arlington High School sent me this nice worksheet which is used by freshman in tandem with this shocked module.

Click Here for Density Worksheet (in PDF format - go to Adobe's HP for the Acrobat Reader software).

Another Density Handout from Eric Brunsell of Appleton East High School.

A handout (plus a few tips) for students that want to explore Newton's Laws via the internet, from Greg Burkhart Timberline High School.

I'd really appreciate it if you would drop me a line and let me know that you are using the material. Also, if you have any worksheets or lessons to go along with a shocked module, let me know so that I can put it on the web for others to use.
